Did you know that young long-eared owls sit by the dozens in Vienna's Stadtpark every spring? While they watch the guests dine in the highly decorated award-winning restaurant. The fact that Vienna is the city in Europe with the most European hamsters is also probably not too well known. Just like the remarkable fact that every third ground squirrel living in Austria is a resident of the federal capital. In the course of filming, we got to know many amazing fellow citizens: swans for whom the fire brigade is building flood protection because they want to nest in the concrete tub of the River Wien. Grey herons that operate their colony right next to a motorway junction. Or abandoned pet rabbits who have formed a kind of self-help group on the banks of the Danube. Not to mention the nocturnal adventures of the Viennese emperor… moth.
