The idyllic English countryside. An intensive dairy farmer called Derek. One day his neighbour, also a Derek, forsakes tradition and starts to turn his land over to wild nature sparking a long-running feud. One Derek believes in intensive farming and producing industrially farmed food, the other is creating a haven for wildlife. The film charts the two Dereks’ often funny turbulent relationship as tempers fray, wild animals escape, and the land is transformed.

Balancing the needs of nature and the needs of people has become an urgent and often contentious topic. This director weaves together an accessible film on this timely debate. It could have been polarising; instead, it is entertaining, humorous, thought-provoking and warm, with strong empathy for its characters.
