In Jan Lepamaa's photographs, light, mood, and the moment take center stage – a ray of sunlight through the forest, the first light over a misty lake, a delicate blossom, or an unexpected play of color in the sky. Familiar Estonian landscapes and nature motifs take on a new appearance each time, shaped by the light and the changing seasons.
"Moments from Estonian Nature" is a visual journey through the diversity of our nature – from vast landscapes to the smallest details, from silence to the power of color and light.
Jan Lepamaa is an Estonian nature photographer who has been seriously involved in photography for more than 20 years. His interest in photography began in childhood, inspired by his father and his close connection with nature. His work focuses, among other things, on Estonian landscapes — forests, bogs and the sea — as well as macro photography and the abstract forms and patterns found in nature.
His photographs have received recognition in several photography competitions, including second place in the 2012 Estonian Nature Photo of the Year competition, the grand prize in the mushroom photography category of the 2011 Estonian Nature photography competition, and second place in the landscape category of the 2013 Baltic Photo Contest. His work ranges from classic nature scenes to moments where light, colour and detail become the main subjects.
