Come and discover the fascinating world of insects through play, exploration, and hands-on activities! In the workshop "The Big Deeds of Tiny Bugs," we explore the diversity, habitats, and lifestyles of insects and spiders found in Estonia. Together, we will search for insects and signs of their presence, examine them with magnifying glasses, and learn to appreciate the vital role these small creatures play in our ecosystem. During the program, we will discover how insects help pollinate plants, participate in food webs, and help maintain the balance of nature.
In addition to the observation walk, participants will engage in playful activities, explore insect life cycles, and fill in their own insect journals. The program combines the joy of discovery, environmental education, and collaborative activity, helping to foster a caring attitude towards nature.
The workshop is aimed at students in grades 1–9 and supports natural science learning outcomes through active outdoor activities. The program is conducted by students specializing in community education and hobby activities at the University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy.
