Have you ever tried truly listening to the forest? Or examined tree bark so closely that you noticed patterns you had simply walked past before?
The educational program "Trees and Senses – A Journey of Discovery in Nature" invites students in grades 1–3 to explore the forest in a slightly different way—using their eyes, ears, noses, and hands.
During this one-hour journey of discovery, children get to move around, explore, compare, listen, and experiment. Each activity helps them notice something new and discover just how many fascinating things can be found in an ordinary tree or forest path.
The program combines play, movement, nature observation, and hands-on experience. The goal is not merely to learn about nature, but to notice, sense, and experience it firsthand.
The program is conducted by students at the University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy.
