The Estonian Ornithological Society has chosen the Long-Tailed Duck as the bird of the year for 2023, which can be seen in Estonia's coastal waters. The Long-Tailed Duck, as a declining species, receives significant attention internationally and is included in the list of globally threatened bird species and classified as a vulnerable species in the IUCN Red List. The traveling exhibition will provide information on how to recognize Long-Tailed Ducks, how scientists study their migration, and what threats affect this species.
The Bird of the Year project is supported by the Environmental Investment Centre of Estonia.
